The Episcopal Church is an international church with its historic roots in the Church of England. It thinks of itself as worshiping in the catholic tradition but has a Protestant respect for scripture, reason and conscience. We are a diverse bunch who share a common liturgy and approach to doing theology although we disagree about countless small things. Our name, "Episcopal" means that we have bishops and our judicatory unit is called a "diocese." We are in the "Diocese of Missouri" (there is also a diocese of West Missouri, whose bishop's office is in Kansas City) and the Offices of the Bishop of Missouri are in St. Louis.
