What is the Episcopal Church?

The Episcopal Church is an international church with its historic roots in the Church of England. It thinks of itself as worshiping in the catholic tradition but has a Protestant respect for scripture, reason and conscience. We are a diverse bunch who share a common liturgy and approach to doing theology although we disagree about countless small things. You can get a sense of the variety of Episcopalians -- and also learn about how our church works at the denominational level, here.

The Episcopal Church in Missouri

Our name, "Episcopal" means that we have bishops and our judicatory unit is called a "diocese." We are in the "Diocese of Missouri" (there is also a diocese of West Missouri, whose bishop's office is in Kansas City) and the Offices of the Bishop of Missouri are in St. Louis. The bishop visits the congregation about once every 18 months. You can read about many opportunities for fellowship, worship and education beyond the parish on the Diocese of Missouri website, here.
